What's the deal on filming in public places. Am I able to walk into a shopping center and film without permission? What about going into one of the shops and filming?

do first ask later.i filmed inside a shopping center a few years ago with just a camera and sound guy. not a big deal and got about an hour of footage before bad timing led me into a security guard as i came around a corner. he asked us to leave.
