Why is seatlle always a hotbed for violent protests like this?

Seattle, more than San Francisco or Berkeley has the distinction of being inhabited by the highest concentration of pavement proletariats.
More people engaged in the rights of the working class and poor, because they are working class and poor, living at or below poverty line. It is still very much an agrarian community: long shoremen, fishermen, loggers, farmers, factory workers, held over hippies and a large Native American population. Not to mention the shitty weather, the proximity to a more liberal British Columbia and the abundance of hard drugs.
Though Berkley, MIT, et al. certainly hold their weight in lofty progressive academics, those regions are held captive by predatory capitalism. For example, you would still need a half a mil annually for the privilege of living among those intellectual elitists in, say, San Fran, Boston or Berkeley.
So, short story long... I believe Seattle has more *passionate* activists because of class disparity and those motivated enough to do something about it. Gawd I love Seattle and the refreshment it gives me from those "too cool for school" cities, like NY or LA.
It is where I plan to make my home :) Sorry for the design board dissertation...
