if you get homesick for the snarky ways of big-city-folk, head down to montage underneath the morrison bridge on the east side.*
you can eat alligator and the waiters will spill your water and crumple up the bill and throw it at you.
*disclaimer: it's been years since i lived in portland, so, although i can't imagine an institution such as the montage disappearing from the face of the city and taking with it the air of cultivated hostility, it is entirely possible that it no longer exists.
