I usually resort to thumbing through design and art books to remind myself of what ruts I've fallen into. At the same time, I think that unless you're some kind of genius, the fact of never ending deadlines and the pressure to keep billable hours low will result in a certain sameness as you rely on moves you know will work well enough and quickly enough.
