lot's of good stuff going on there, i'm sure you already know the jazz fest will be around during that time. if it's to expensive for you, a lot of the local bars and venues have great music/shows that time at a cheaper price.
check out the st. louis cemetery #1 tour, it's where marie leaveaux was burried (voodoo queen) and the easy rider cemetery scene was shot. it's pretty creepy.
french market and french quarter are always a good time. go down to frenchman street for a less touristy scene.
take a street car down st. charles avenue, it's cheap and fun. eat good food.
