    "if" and that is a big if, it will mount on another machine in target mode, you can then install the OS and/or format that machine (the effed one mounted) from the machine it is mounted to. you can start the good machine (w/ effed one still mounted) from install disk and then choose the drive you wish to format/re-nstall in the menu- in this case the effed one.

    if it is a powerbook, and the drive was making physical, audible noises..... well, i am sorry tkmiester, i would be looking at www.geeks.com or another place for a new, fast, wide drive. been there several times w/ powerbooks.
