South Park vs Simpsons? South Park wins for me, and I'll explain why.
While in the beginning South Park tried so hard to get its audience with the dick and fart jokes, eventually they saw it running thin and tossed the more political and subtle humor on top, keeping it's old fans who needed the low-brow humor while adding some new ones who wanted to give it a shot but needed something with more substance.
The Simpsons, in its heyday, was an amazingly written show that had subtlety even the best of South Park could never match. Inuuendo jokes, film references, and so on were used flawlessly. Then the writers left and new writers came and the show became blunt as a brick. "Subtle" jokes are now followed by a direct example of the punchline so nobody misses a joke. Jokes aren't funny when explained, and this is no exception. The show gets sloppier and sloppier every year, adding as many guest voices as possible in a vain attempt to eke out just a few more viewers.
