True vesp, I am talking only mainly of graphic design (but also web design etc.) but that’s cos I thought that’s what your question was – why the other design disciplines aren’t as high and mighty as architecture/product design etc. And even when designing for TV I think you have a target audience. The irreverent look of E4 compared to the solemnity of the History channel.
Or maybe branding people are evoking different emotions in different people so it’s always for the masses.
Probably halfway between the two.
