years ago (this is not posturing) i put together a fixie at the bike shop where i worked. everything was perfect except i didn't have any clipless pedals at work and didn't want to buy another pair. i found some shitty old flats put 'em on to ride home. on the way home (i was taking it easy mind you) some idiot college girl pulled out of an alley without slowing down and *SMACK* im face first into the side of her jeep. To this day i swear that the only reason i didn't have to have my face reconstructed is that she was sporting a soft top. I literally felt the plastic strech around my face and then give some more when the rest of my body came flying. the driver of couse started freaking out and crying, i dusted myself off, and calmed her down. after making sure i was okay, we went our seperate ways. only to figure out 5 blocks away and once the adrenaline went away that my new frame was buckled at the head tube. FUCK!
moral of the story? i dunno.
