    ouch! well it sounds like a pretty normal situation sad but true... he's basically using you as a production bitch because he doesn't have the skillz... hmmm, you have to get creative about how to handle this situation, which might mean you are going to have to speak your mind when you engage dialogue with him. and frankly, your going to have to, else your going to quit anyway.
    the next time you sit down with him for a brief on a project, when he starts giving you direction, write or draw it all down, ask him questions to get what he wants accurately done, sketch on a piece of paper would be idea. after he's finished, squint your eyes and tell him it's not going to look good, but if he gives you some room, you can take his ideas and make them look better....

    until you leave, sound like you just need to be more vocal about what you know about good design, maybe try that...
