there are quite a few of us here that have lost parents. my mother passed away 5 years ago unexpectedly. It was my experience that it takes one full year to get through the worst of it. Got to get through all of the holidays and anniversarys one time. It will feel like an eternity at times. Next thing you know it's the anniversary of the death and you're like "wow - it's been a year?" and you realize you've survived.
