And I've never had problems opening RAW straight into Photoshop.
in the RAW vs JPEG vs TIFF, I liken it to taking your film to a developer or doing it yourself in a darkroom.
RAW hands down is better for control of your final photo. Re-adjustment of your white balance, exposure, shadows, contrast etc. are all things I wouldn't give up to shoot jpeg and save space.
