1. YES you can indeed change you SS number, but its a bitch and not worth the trouble, and the SSA probably won't change it for a lost wallet.
2.Just have your bank contact the credit agencies and have a protection put on your credit files so if any fucker out there tries to open anything up in your name, they can't because they'll call you first.
3. Some DLs have SS# on them, i am not sure about NYs policy nowadays but they have an opt-in thing where you can optionally list you SS on the card, but they don't recommend it.
