There's a difference between promotion and selling. Some people shamelessly promote the hell out of themselves by getting their name or product out there.
Ever see someone/something metioned on some forum, then again on a newsfeed, then in a zine, then you hear someone on the street mention them... you get the idea.
You have to put your name everywhere you can without saying "buy me, buy me"
