i am just waiting to see if they bite, if not, like you said i can always walk away. and i do have the position to do just that if need be.The other thing to consider, of course, is whether or not you really actually want to work there fulltime, or are just flattered that they might offer you what you're asking. If you take a job just for the money it's never enough money...
The biggest mistake of my career was to take a job at a big media company. I asked for 20% more than I thought they would go for (and way more than I was making freelancing) and they didn't even blink. I lasted maybe 6 months before they gave me a lot of money to leave. (Apparently "evil" isn't an approved adjective to describe a marketing plan...)
The point being, if you don't have to settle, don't...
