ok, i just was pulled into the owner's office and he wanted to offer me a fulltime position over the freelance i am currently doing.

he starts by asking what i was making at my last full time job and i tell him the number aand i cant lie about it becuase he knows and is great friends with my old boss, but i then tell him in order for me to come aboard i would need (x) amount and he says no no no thats too much the position isnt for that high of aa salary, then i tell him he is already paying the weekly salary of that number, so it shouldnt be an issue, he then says that he would be paying my entire health benefits and so on, i then tell him how i was brought on board bec ause 3 of his "superstar designers" quit on him, but yet i am handling all 3 of their work loads without any difficluties, and that the reality is that by keeping me on board he can hold off on bringing other designers. he then says but now isnt crunch time. i smile and say that this company shuts its doors at 5pm and that they do not understand the notion of what crunch time really is. he smiles as he knows i am right, and i add that i wish it was crunch time everyday (that is when i do my best work) under pressure is for me! not stressed but i need pressure! anyways the vice president walks in knowing what is going on and says is everything ok, than the owner states that i am asking for a very high salary, and he (VP) says just do it!

so now i am on hold til next week. i am however not breakable and i feel i am a very strong negotiater, at least now i am, i have leaarned many mistakes along the way.

basicly i know most companies say they give raises but really do not, they just waant to fill the empty seats up and will decide later what will happen.

so my real advise is to ask for it up front and get it in writing. because if you dont, one of your friends with equal or even less experience will walk in and take the cash that could have been your raise for them selves.

    hoped that helped!

    wish me luck as well!

    :)
