people are fooling themselves into thinking that our race has become more civilized, when in fact all that has happened is WE HAVE SIMPLY REMOVED THE THINGS THAT CONFRONT US. we hide the dead, even sex is shocking (this is one of the most amazing things to me).
things that force us to make decisions of character are now rare, so we no longer have to see what animals we are.
