  all you need is an ethernet crossover cable (i think a standard wired ethernet cable works on newer Macs), then turn on File Sharing and mount the disc on the desktop...

  or Firewire cable, and use Firewire Disk mode... hold down a key (I forget) on startup to use the other Mac as a Firewire disc.

  or Airport cards?
