I'm speechless at some of the crap thrown towards Green Day.

You would think that a band who matured enough to create an album that brought the issues of this shitty US president to the minds of many young people who previously could care less would get a little more respect out of the fact that they're album received such praise.

Instead, people are saying "American Idiot came out so long ago," (in a local paper today) or "What happened to the tweakers that brought us Dookie and Insomniac?"

Those "tweakers" succeeded at making an album that merged politics and the current US climate into one nice package that kind of makes it feel good to raise a middle finger at Republicans and Bush, and you're going to slight them for that?

I don't even care if it has anything to do with politics or not. They album is fantastic, and gave me a reason to listen to them again. Was into them in high school around Dookie, but never since until AI came out.

What have Green Day become, kingjulien? They've become a band with a conscience, and a desire to create change in young people, a band that is concerned with telling it how it is.
