Don't over design it. There's nothing worse than a resume that looks like an ad. Usability and legibility are key here. Your portfolio shows your design skills - your resume should show your type skills and restraint. Keep in mind that many places prefer ASCII as they are entered into internal systems, forwarded in emails, etc. You really need two versions - text and PDF imho.
