I don't have a problem with the wood BG, it's just that it seems a little too orange and not natural, seems to treated.
I also feel that you have a few irrelevent elements in there namely the faded wood effect behind the welcome copy, the 45º lines, and faded sunset behind the links. I think you also have too much space above the window – makes me scroll necessarily.
Other than that I really like. Very tidy but not quite the Jevad tidiness I knew :/
