using pure shock "you will get addicted' kind of ads can really be a waste of time, the fact is that you can smoke heroin and not get addicted, you would have to be smoking every day for around a week to become physically addicted, so as soon as some kid hears from his friends that they tried heroin and are not addicted then the message of the ad is negated in its entirety, what they should be doing is educating people as to the realities and combating social issues rather than coming up with shock ads that are largely aimed at appeasing middle class mothers who have no experience with drugs and are likely alienating their kids by being so out of touch.
The fact of the matter is that a lot of people here seem to happily sit atop their bourgious tree and cast scathing comments about smack/crackheads, and rarely try to put themselves in the position that some of these kids have been in, with abusive alcoholic/junkie parents, extreme poverty, estate boredom and the like, smack addiction often has a root cause far darker than popping a few pills in a trendy nightclub.
