That's how I feel about people who cry and get emotional because they meet their idol, or some pop star or actor. It's all fucking worthless, I feel sorry for people like that. No self-worth, no confidence in themselves. Can't stand it.
I met Jeremy Enigk of Sunny Day Real Estate twice in Dallas during college after shows. He's always been a big influence to me musically and personally.
I told him honestly that his struggle to find religion in his life really touched me and had been an inspiration to me in some times when I felt mentally lost.
Meanwhile, some twerp asshole teenager is chomping at his ear to tell him and other guitarist Dan that he's the one who plays the guitar intro on Circles from Diary when his band does a cover of it. Got pulled away from talking with me but kept looking back wanting to continue the conversation.I really wish some people could figure themselves out, and I mean people I don't even know and won't ever know. All this celebrity worship and pop culture trash in the US is just disgusting and it's breeding an entire generation of mindless idiots who will never have the capacity to think politically, environmentally, or have concern for their place in the world.
They'll just be fucking sitting there paused in a moment of repeatedly thinking about how important they think they are at 16 and how they deserve some party to be filmed on MTV.
Worthless, all of it.Damn, I'm pretty better off getting rid of cable like I'm doing next week.
