well, blaw, i think it is also important to say he made all the money himself with his own company. some people with "old money" i know are not always as nice and straightforward.
i think this guy achieved something and the joy he gets out of that is projected on his friends etc.
so all in all you can say money is a side effect of his success and hard labour.
