Granted money lets you do things - travel, nice pad, nice car, nice women who pretent or think they like you but they like your money...
...I think that unless you're lucky enough to be in a job where you feel fulfilled and you're making bucks then there may come a point where you have to choose between the two.
For example, I have one friend who works in the city and is making huge sums of money but is really unhappy and another who gave up work in a bank and works in a bar in south america who is having the time of his life (and he plans to live there permanently).
