lvl it wont be so bad. just look outside of balboa. Newport is a spendy city. It's where a lot of the LA execs move to, to get away from LA but still be a not insane distance from LA. A lot of OC real estate moguls are live there. And it has the best spas and shopping in the whole county.

But it gets much more normal if you dont mind living near the outskirts of newport or one city inland or one beach town north (south is more expensive). Fountain valley was also a good reccomendation.

I'd say im very very picky about where I live. I like easy, quiet but close to a lot of things to do and fairly central to my friends. If i were to go back to Orange County, I would look in the following cities and I wouldnt be bummed on any of them:

    Expensive:
    - Newport
    - Corona Del Mar
    - Laguna Beach

    Not so expensive:
    - Costa Mesa
    - Fountain Valley
    - Huntington Beach
    - Irvine (the part closer to newport near UCI)

If you dont mind a 20 min or less drive to work but prolly closer to more people and things:

    Fun Cities:
    - Seal beach
    - Roosemoore/Los Alamitos
    - Fullerton
    - Orange (near orange circle)

    Other options:
    - Tustin
    - The very east and very west sides of Santa Ana.

You'll find something quickly with all those options. Rock on. There should be an NT OC drinks soon with all the new nt people down there lately.
