feckin rednecks..
No, its not classist, racist, educationalist or any other -ist to refer to rednecks.
I grew up in England, which, if youve never been outside London, is full rednecks..now they've been branded 'Chavs', they're affectionately marketed too.
To be a chav/reneck/yokel in any country means to have no idea of the size and variety of other cultures, have no desire to travel or to entertain any ideas outside the immediate culture in which you were raised. Think local, act local i the maxim at work here.
American rednecks are xenophobic regurgitators of the gingoistic propoganda carefully metered out to them in the same way that the Sun reading ITV-watching English ones are - they look slightly different - but the attitude is the same, drink fuelled, culturally bereft (usually white) intellectually uncurious fearful of big-city and international influence, rednecks are a politicians dream with their simple self-image, vote-directable anger and placatability.
Worldwide, the motto of the redneck is : 'You're not from round here', quickly followed by violence, breaking glass and running battle of the bar.
Redneck refers to a localist, introverted world-view, deliberately fostered by nation states to keep the poorer, less cultured, less-travelled hoardes from ever becoming a real threat to the status quo.
