i used to run a dept. and i secretly used the design of the resumes as a key criteria of prospective employees.
you can tell really easily where on the spectrum from "j.m. brockman univers grid master" to "funky pomo grunge kai power tools guy"...
how you solve your own cv design problem is indicative of how well you pay attention to the "little details" and how serious you take even small projets.
for whatever that's worth... if i'm doing the hiring, resumes most certainly DO matter.
