If you want something that will do FCHD and Avid and all that high-end stuff... invest in a high end machine.
If you want a machine to play, learn and figured stuff out on, then the iMac G5 will do ya.
It gets hot pretty fast with that extra RAM chip in there. Which means it kicks on the fan a lot when the number crunching gets going pretty good... And the fan is pretty loud.
I've got one and I love it. But I'm just using it for PS and Illustrator and the occasional iMovie project.
