I started to do a simple site for a doctor's practice a few years back and then the doctor's wife started changing everything - she said wanted an entire searchable database of every doctor in the US. I started cracking up. I said - "what's your budget?" She said about $400...
Two days later she calls me up and said - "Web companies go public. I just read about it in the newspaper. Can we do an IPO and compete with WebMD? Who do I talk to so I can make some money on this web thing? Oh, and can we make the website 'pop' more? Add some more brighter colors and bigger pictures?"
I gave them their deposit back and walked away very fast..
