bush's approval rating is in the absolute toilet right now. normal centrist republicans are second-guessing their 2004 votes. the pendulum is swinging back to the left.
Paul Hacket, who ran as a democrat for congress in the most republican district in ohio lost by single digit points. Which is unheard of. Hackett, who is an iraq war vet was lambasted by sean hannity and rush limbaugh (among others) for padding his resume by going to iraq to win the election. so much for supporting our troops.
Bill Frist, major opponent to stem-cell research is aligning himself more to the center and is now saying that stem cell research is a good thing, much to the dismay of christian fundamentalists like James Dobson, who likened stem cell research to nazi experiments on the jews.
But when Dick Durbin likens gtmo torture to behavior of the nazis, he is villified by the pundits and is basically forced to make an apology, while dobson refuses to do the same.
This current crop of republicans are the biggest hypocrites that this country has ever seen.
