ukit, you touch on several issues and make errors regarding them all. Let me try to address each...
"So basically the argument goes that because we don't understand absolutely everything that happened billions of years ago...then that automatically means Christianity must be true!"
--------------------------
Response: No, the argument goes: There is impossible complexity of biological systems. Complexity which demonstrates the work of a designer. Though we still don't know everything, we know that science is only going to reveal more complexity in biological systems. Therefore, it's a logical conclusion to posit an intelligent and even personal designer.---------------------------
"I mean, c'mon - rising from the dead? That's like some Dungeons and Dragons type ish. And how did Noah fit two of every animal on earth in a ship?"
---------------------------
Response: A.) There is reliable historical evidence which points towards the physical ressurection of Jesus Christ. More reliable historical record than most records you take for granted as being factual history. This includes writings from Josephus a secular historian. This also takes into account the records of his post burial appearance to over 500 people. The main issue here is a western prejuidice against the supernatural. B.) If you examine the dimensions of the ark given to noah in genesis, you discover that it was more than sea-worthy and quite huge. Also, the hebrew word used suggests that not literally every single species was required on the ark. Also, there's the issue of the convenience of baby animals as opposed to the adults. But these issues don't pertain to the I.D. discussion, do they?
---------------------------"Not to mention the fact that there's no evidence to support the fact that the Earth was created in six days, that it is less than 10,000 years old, no mention of the dinosaurs in the Bible at all (a pretty whopping omission considering they dominated terrestial life for over 100 times longer than humans have)...the list goes on and on."
----------------------------
Response: Actually there is evidence of a young earth (though this is a secondary issue). And there is mention of dinosaurs in the Bible. Rather than going into a detailed dissertation here, it would be better to provide you with links for your own study, in the event that you truly care enough to research it:
http://www.answersingenesis.org/…
http://www.answersingenesis.org/…Again, most I.D. scientists are not Biblical creationists.
-----------------------------"There's no way a reasonable person can pretend to poke holes in the logic of science, and then turn around and say all this mystical superstitious babble is the answer. Like I said earlier, there's no more evidence to support Christianity than there is that humans were delivered to Earth by aliens."
----------------------------
Response: Categorically false. There's an abundance of historical evidence to support Christianity. The science of textual criticism demonstrates how reliable the biblical record is. To deny the origins of Christianity as presented in the New Testament manuscripts is to deny factual history. To stick one's head in the sand. Do a study of the Codex Siniaticus and Codex Vaticanus and then we can have a fruitful discussion about this.- end responses
