the standard downtown is fun but the walls are paper thin...sometimes that's interesting but most of the time it isn't the rooftop bar and pool is quite nice though for relaxing.

the avalon is nice but some of the rooms can be next to very loud street traffic. maison 140 or something like that is small and cheap in beverly hills (owned by the viceroy people) but cheap and you can go across the street to the peninsula's club bar and get perfect cocktails. though this lady freaked out one night when I was there because of thunderstorm and pulled the fire alarm three times. she was kicked out. but overall it was pretty nice. trippy looking.

the hyatt house is relatively cheap but kind of trashed nice rooftop though. the Mondrian is super nice but expensive... great bar scene and one of the better Schrager hotels.

There's this random place which I haven't been to called "the farmer's daugther" which has a whole western theme and it seems pretty affordable.

under a hundred a night will be a difficult proposition in LA though...it all depends where you are working...you could find a cheap place in burbank but if you are stuck in traffic you may not be in a much better situation that just paying to be close to where you need to be...

    anyways.
