Ribit, I used to buy the pretty Vaios (And if you get on ebay, there are some good looking Work-horse models, the kind that just sat on your desk and you moved only when necessary. The PCG series in the 3ghz range with MASSIVE Screens).
But I care more about solid performance and a good build quality. And power+pretty aside, the Vaios were fragile and not suited to being moved about.
Plus they ate batteries like a motherfucker.
So if you want something you'll be careful with and shit, look at the Sony Workhorse models.
If you want something that will run decent, won't crash, won't break, isn't too expensive, is light, has great battery life...look at IBM (love that classic black) and Toshiba.
