I am surprised that the R1800 is shit. It's Epson's most modern printer, and I have read the coour is good. Are you sure you've got the print settings correct?
Anyway the Canon 9900i is meant to be as good but a bit more pricey.
Let me know the out come as I am about to buy an R1800.
