I never really liked the boxster myself, I agree about it being a car so people can get just to say they have a porche, although my opinion is also skewed because I think most convertibles, in particular soft tops are ugly to beging with.
The styling of s Carrera or a 911 is so much nicer, and while its not as powerful as some other sports cars I think the styling compensates for it. IMO its way nicer than any of the bmw Z series for example or any American sports car.
