1.) I can't believe how wild Manny-gate got. With that said, it was wise to resolve the situation and keep him. Even as goofy as he is (why don't more people question how loaded he appears to be?) the guy is a monster, and I don't want to see that Ortiz Manny combo break up until we have another basher to replace him.
2.) I didn't want to give up Mueller either, but couldn't we have done something else to get Romero? Shoppach and Stern? Millar? Sanchez?
3.) Does Schilling stay in the pen when Foulke comes back?
4.) I guess we can still get a reliever in a waiver-wire deal through 8.31. What options do we have though? Scott Eyre? Bob Wickman? Can we sneak Guadardo through?
5.) Regardless of what happens, I like the Sox prospects next year. We've got Hanley, Pedroia, Manny Declarmen, Youkilis, Lester, and how about the way Papelbon threw today? He might stay in the rotation the rest of the year if he keeps this up.
6.) BTW, looks like we need to insist on a Giami urine test right about now.
7.) Oh and yeah, while I used to like embree, does anybody see this as a Ramiro Mendoza situation, where he goes in and tries to jinx the enemy? How much is Theo paying him to make that timely late inning bad throw?
