you can spend YEARS trying to color match. I wouldn't suggest it. However, there are a very few printers that with RIP software can be made for certified prepress use.
I believe Canon makes one of them.
Not terribly expensive, but it dpeneds on what you think is expensive.
about $5,000 USD and you can have a prepress out of your closet.
Course that may be worthless now with PDF-X1a's and many printers doing soft proofing now ...which btw i HATE cuz it's not accurate and I don't care what anyone says. It's not. I know the average person won't know.. :) but still.
