i think his work may be trendy but most art or design is trend based. some may become a pioneer of that trend and makes a name for them selves.
how i see his work is that yes it is very stylized but i see each element working together to make things work, as in emotional values.
when u see something beautiful that is surrounding the image, you feel that calm (imo).
anyone can put shapes and art work together, but having that right balance is the key. i been told that minimalizm is the hardest design / art to master, cause you are bound by limites.
i think in the other hand, maximalism as Mau would put it, has its complexity it self. it requires boundary of elements that are used to find that right balance in which it speaks to you in a manner that makes you feel something out of the chaos that it resonate.
