man, i couldn't get that adobe gamma action to work for me. i set up a custom monitor profile in PS, and that works fine for emulating a Mac monitor while i'm using PS, but it doesn't change my gamma settings universally.
have you tried degaussing your monitor? sometimes this can make a huge difference. sometimes it doesn't do shit.
