Study lighting. It's key for fashion photography. Look into fashion magazines too, see how other people are shooting, you should be able to deconstruct the shot.
A good cheap way to play around with fashion photography is to shoot outside using a reflector, you can get some nice results. It helps to have a good looking subject to.
