In my opinion the people who were equally killed can be considered innocent but there is no innocence in British or American history. It's not blaming yourself but recognizing your reality. By the way I think we're still defending ourselves regardless of what Blair's protesters think...

I completely agree! I am not a republican (and don't know any) who denies history at all!
I agree that there were and are some atrocities we (America, UK, France, Germany, Russia, China, Korea, Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, Africa, Spain, etc) have and are committing right now!
The only problem is that intentionally killing innocent lives is escalating the problem and by not condoning the events as they take place as loudly as you condone Iraq or history you have terrorists believe that by intentionally killing innocent lives their plan is working.
It's not. It will make it worse as it is right now.
