dunno if you were there in the spring of '99, cap, but that was when the ajuntament ill-advisedly lobbied to have the eurocup (?) final in barcelona, thinking that it would be barca v. munich.
much to their dismay, it ended up being man u v. munich and the city went a bit fucking nuts. i was wondering out loud to mx this weekend whether or not this business of the sirens and the creation of municipal anxiety was intentional. a tactic to assert police presence, if you will.
