    Question 1:
    Why "Religion" ?
I echo the answers of the others. Except on one point. Jesus Christ is a person who is alive today. The Son of God didn't come and die to give us "structure" he came to save us because in the grand, scheme we are sinners who fall short of God's demands of us. (perfection) So he who knew no sin became sin for us. Believing in him is not religion, he has differentiated himself from all religions including catholocism and protestantism. He is the way the truth and the life.

2: Scientology. Yes, it is a religion. I went into one of their "sales rooms" to learn about what they believe. Basically, you read books by this Sci Fi Author "Ron Hubbard" and do this electronic ritual thing and you get "levels" like RPG style where you get "abilities" etc.

Apparently the top of the chart has secret abilities like being able to leave your body. I asked "how does that help anyone? Does that ability contribute into helping the world?" Stunned silence.

Furthermore I asked who posesses these upper abilities who has done anything of value for the world. Where are the Ghandis, the Martin Luther Kings, the Mandelas?

They had an answer for this one.. "Tom Cruise"

Well, thats great, he's an actor. Recently divorced (again.. at the time) What about his kids, I asked, if Tom is so great, why did he create this traumatic experience? In Fact, I heard the main reason for the seperation was scientiology.

Nicole wasnt hardcore enough, so he left. Breaking up a family? This is the best you have? ..

At this the guy was really shaken and referred me to their hard core debater guy who "deals with christians all the time in university debates" .. great, did he have any answers?

No.. just a lot of hot air. Apparently they support some charaties and stuff. But so does everyone these days..

Leaving, the guy emphasized one particular book out of the hundreds hubbard wrote for me to read. "Thanks, I'll read it" I said, as he promised it would answer my questions.. "Thatll be $24.95" he said.. .

This is in stark contrast to the message of Christ.. "Whosoever believes in him shall have everlasting life."

No way for religion to gain power there, in fact, accepting means you now walk the narrow road through life, a much more difficult, but eternally fulfilling path. I hope you all join us.
