the church never hijacked marriage in the "normal" citizen club. it was always about the "normal citizen" club. a way of opressing the female sexuality and women in general. It's like redifining torture to make it more inclusive. I don't understand. There's a reason why for millenia the logical conclusion of all marriage systems in all cultures, including european, was some for of arranged marriages.
marriage was doomed ever since people started marrying for love IMO.
