re: experience, that's where school, (even a short study period) could help you connect not only with other writers but w/ an internship that could spring board you to other opportunities. also look for copywriter organizations/clubs/groups in your area. search out industry gatherings and meet people that do what you want to do. some work samples and enthusiasm could get you to interesting places. :)
