I remember last two weeks have trouble doing an interactive CD using Flash where I can't recall any pdf doc from the button created (to be launch in Acrobat instead of open file from Internet browser...) and some say using Director is much better. Later I found out that I need a third-party software to make the document open from 'desired' applications.
Yeah, do get use to Flash though. It's more efficient. I used to study Director first before moving on to Flash.
