    Personally, I think your portfolio is fairly good, so I feel it'sbusiness communications which are likely holding you back.

    To mimic what others have mentioned, the coverletter is ridiculously important, so I would definitely spend a good amount of time with each of them. You've already mentioned how weak you feel your coverletters are, so why not spend more time improving that aspect? Fact is, a lot of your contacts might not even be looking at your site because of this outstanding issue.

    Just wondering, what's your personal process when you jobfind anyway? Have you phoned around first, and/or try to make an inside contact, etc.? Or do you straightoff e-mail? Primarily, I get the most feedback (both positive and feedback) from those who I phone and connect with, and then e-mail, rather than send to the general career or info inbox. Granted, you shouldn't phone if they explicitly request no phone calls.
