Interesting quote cookie.
I'm reading "War is a force that gives us meaning" by Chris Hedges at the moment and it is about the mass psychology of war. He has been a war correspondant since the early 80s and said he was addicted to the feeling of belonging to something bigger than yourself, which war brings. He says the rush of adrenaline that calls our young men and women into the fight disappears as quickly as the causes that are used to justify the war machine, leaving only ruined and empty lives in its wake.
