I think that the war threads are important and useful. I feel that the international media is not really discussing the issues at hand in a fair and discriminant manner. As designers and professionals of media and communition we need to explore the power of community websites as an alternative force in balancing our perceptions of truth around the globe. They say Vietnam was the first TV war, this maybe the first web war. Community websites such as this consist of individuals discussing things with their peers and trying to make sense of all the things that are happening. You could argue that political discussions should be kept on politics messageboards. I don't agree. I want to discuss these things with people who are at similar position and life stage as me. It is much more rewarding when you can put people's words in context. I may not agree with lot of the americans on here, but I still like to hear how theye genuinely feel about things. Yes, I also think that it is tiring. I'm tired of war too. It is addicting and disgusting. I just don't think that this board will be any better if we ignore important world events. After all they will shape our future and design's future.
